Meanwhile, Johnny Blaze is with Roxanne Simpson in the hospital discussing Karen's kidnapping and how the Stuntmaster was the one responsible. Johnny leaves, unaware that the Stuntmaster is watching him outside. While he rides, Blaze transforms into Ghost Rider when he senses danger from a group of men loading carpets into a truck. He quickly takes out the men and discovers that they had been hiding bags of heroin in the rolled up carpets.
Daredevil awakens in a dark room, surrounded by four machine guns on tripods working with motion sensors. In an adjacent room, Karen Page is confronted by Death's Head, who tells her that he needs her father's research in time displacement and the fourth dimension. When Karen attempts to escape, Smasher stops her at the door. Daredevil manages to get past the machine guns and goes off in search in Karen. Stuntmaster confronts Ghost Rider, who destroys the Stuntmaster's motorcycle. Stuntmaster tells Johnny that he doesn't want to fight and swears that he was forced to kidnap Karen by Death's Head. To prove his story, he decides to show Blaze where Death's Head hideout is and the two ride off on the Ghost Rider's bike.
Daredevil finds Karen, and the couple are immediately confronted by Death's Head. When Daredevil hears the villains voice, he realizes who Death's Head really is and immediately starts to fight him. With merely a touch, Death's Head causes Daredevil's arm to go numb; and when Ghost Rider crashes through the window he finds Death's Head grabbing Daredevil by the throat, draining him of his life force.
The original Death's Head was actually Paxton Page, Karen's father, and he died of cobalt poisoning in Daredevil (1964) # 57.
Johnny Blaze was reunited with Roxanne Simpson in Ghost Rider (1973) # 19, where it was revealed that she had been living the false identity of stuntwoman Katy Milner.
Blaze joined the Stuntmaster television show as a stuntman in Ghost Rider (1973) # 13, where he met Karen Page. In the same issue it was revealed that a million dollar bounty had been placed on Karen's head, which the Trapster attempted to collect. In Ghost Rider (1973) # 15, the Orb attempted to kidnap her for the bounty and failed as well. It was revealed in Ghost Rider (1973) # 18 that the Stuntmaster had been manipulated into working for Death's Head, who had also been the person responsible for the bounty on Karen.
This story continues into Ghost Rider (1973) # 20.
At the Los Angeles Science Institute, Daredevil has followed leads on Karen Page's kidnapping and found a brute named Smasher stealing something for his boss, Death's Head. Smasher knocks Daredevil unconscious and takes both the hero and the box he'd recovered back to Death's Head, who is pleased at what he's been brought.
