A surprise attack from the death cultists sends the Ghost Rider falling down into a canyon, where he is only barely able to correct his descent and ride back up the rock face. He chases the cultists to a bridge, where they commit suicide rather than face him. The next evening, Johnny Blaze is at the home of Senator Arthur Sterling and his daughter Karen, who have been investigating the cult on murder charges. Also at the dinner are Sterling's lawyer, Mark Crane, and son, Billy, both of whom defend the cult. Suddenly, one of the cultists is seen outside setting fire to the house, prompting Blaze to transform into the Ghost Rider. The demon catches the cultists and fries them with hellfire, forcing them to give up the identity of their leader.
Blaze returns to the home with the knowledge that the lawyer, Mark Crane, is the leader of the cult. When he and Karen attempt to find Crane, they discover her brother Billy dressed as one of the cultists and wielding a flamethrower. Both Billy and Crane escape, prompting Karen to ride off to the cult's secret meeting place alone to try and save her brother. She disguises herself as one of the cultists and reveals herself to save her brother from performing in their suicidal death ceremony. Blaze arrives, transforms into the Ghost Rider, and stops Crane from causing the mass suicide of all the cult members. Karen, however, recoils in horror at what Johnny has become and tells him to leave and never come back. The Ghost Rider leaves, his mission of vengeance ended.
